Positive Technologies, an industry leader in result-driven cybersecurity, hosted an open event for cybersecurity professionals in Jakarta. The meetup attracted more than 370 participants, ranging from seasoned professionals to students and aspiring researchers. Speakers from India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia shared practical expertise and unique insights.
According to a study by Positive Technologies, 28% of advertisements on dark web forums in Southeast Asia are related to Indonesia, and 62% of all successful cyberattacks on organizations in this country lead to data breaches. From 2023 to 2024, cybercriminals primarily targeted manufacturing companies (31% of all attacks), followed by government agencies and financial companies (23% each).
The experts note that in recent years, Indonesia has taken major steps forward in strengthening its digital infrastructure and expanding digital literacy programs for the population. However, the rapid adoption of digital technologies in Indonesia, the region's largest country, highlights the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity measures.
