Positive Technologies with its PT Application Firewall (PT AF) has today been named a visionary, for the third year running, in Gartner’s August 2017 Magic Quadrant for Web Application Firewalls.
Positive Technologies welcomes this recognition and believes this is due to PT AF’s ability to proactively respond to today’s overwhelming application security challenges by combining true machine learning with massive datasets and proactive patching as a key differentiator. The solution performs automatic sorting, ranking and smart visualization of security events to identify real threats using unique attack chaining technology. Such an approach allows it to stop more attacks than other web application firewalls, including zero-day threats, whilst requiring no human management.
The company has made considerable investments and expanded globally, which has realized increased visibility, with the number of customers that now trust in its solutions around the world growing. In tandem, it has made significant improvements in the company’s go to market strategy, which saw it scale its channel program, focus on marketing strategy and noteworthy new partnership deals – including Check Point and Array Networks.
As modern enterprises create and deploy more web applications in their business, PT AF is a valuable countermeasure for security teams. Vulnerabilities in such applications significantly increase a company’s attack surface, providing an attacker with a route in to company databases and other valuable assets. Indeed, traditional firewalls and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) no longer provide adequate protection against application-level attacks. In addition, traditional web application firewalls lack the intelligence to prevent zero-day threats and overwhelm organisations by bombarding them daily with thousands of alerts that are mostly insignificant.
EVP Sales at Positive Technologies said, “Our approach to protecting web applications has always been focused on delivering intelligent countermeasures which leverage advanced, but effective, automation. This allows for an approach that stops attackers in real world scenarios, without over-burdening security teams.
“We feel that the fact this is the third year PT AF has been recognized as a visionary shows our continual dedication to innovation, research and development. However, it is important to note that this is not at the expense of usability. We are obsessive in our desire to make PT AF easy to deploy and simple to manage, something evidenced by our continual improvements in cloud delivery.”
PT AF can be tightly integrated with Positive Technologies’ in-depth source code analysis tool, PT Application Inspector, to encourage secure DevOps. This allows organizations to operate SSDL, allowing applications to be secure from creation, all the way through to deployment.
